Karolinelund

The raw post-industrial surroundings of the ‘Eastern Harbor’ (Østre Havn) have for the last four years been our home, our source of inspiration and our scene for the exploration of art and technology. The original plan for the experiment was 4 years of free space in Rapsgade 4, by kind courtesy of the owner of the building, A. Enggaard, and that period is coming to an end - which gives us the opportunity to develop the experiment even further in new inspiring surroundings: In the former restaurant ‘Påfuglen’ (English: Peacock) in the former Karolinelund amusement park which is currently being transformed into traditional park in the center of the city.

Even though a lot of good memories are based in our current surroundings, the coming transition is a chance to show that Platform4 is mobile (which was one of the original ideas behind the project) and that we’re capable of developing any area where we are (contemporary) placed.

If you want to visit both old and new venue then show up at 4 pm at the graffiti wall every first Wednesday in the month. A historical tour will from there take you around inside and outside the old warehouse ‘Pakhus 4’, so far known as Platform4.

Our new home at the old amusement park ‘Karolinelund’ has a lot of qualities: a more central location, a surrounding park, a full fledged café kitchen and interest and support from both the municipality and citizens of the city.

Last Tuesday we were handed the keys, and already the day after, both the FutureFormer group (administration) and the Cafe4 group (http://platform4.dk/node/465) held meetings there to get to get a sense of the opportunities held in the new surroundings.

Påfuglen

Right now we are planning the movement and designing rooms and functions for the new building, so it can facilitate as many activities as possible. One already established room, provoking a lot of smiles, is the big kitchen. There is also a stage in the building, and a rather large outdoor area with podiums. If you have ideas for the house or the outside area, please comment this article or join the open meetings every Wednesday at 17.00.
When we figure out when and how to include everybody in the process..

The park will be officially opened on May 11, where the opening of ‘Platform4 in the Peacock’ also will be celebrated with music, snacks, drinks and entertainment.

We look forward to the challenge and welcome everyone who would like to join, explore and contribute to the development of our community.

This is what Nordjyske had to say (in danish) about us moving (read also the comments, they're quite entertaining ;)
